I just wanted to put something here. 2013 is flying by (11 days gone, already!), and unremarked upon. This cannot go on.
A (very pleasant, planned for, and happily accommodated) wrench was thrown into our daily lives when we took a trip north (everywhere domestic is north from here) to visit a newborn niece. She arrived a day ahead of schedule, while I was working out of our Atlanta office, preparing an Initial Disclosures package and furiously checking facebook for picture updates. I spent several mornings snuggling baby and several afternoons billing, and because I suffered a hideous neck injury from doing something crazy like looking to the left without due care (seriously, I don’t know what happened but it was all out of whack) — well, because my cervical vertebrae decided to swell and inflame and torture me mercilessly, I also spent several of the wee hours billing, too, since sleep was not an option.
We had a great trip to the zoo with friends, a lady’s coffee hour with my local girls, delayed family Christmas, lots of baby time, and quiet mornings in front of the fire. It was a nice trip.
We’ve been back for a week. The husband watched the football game at a local bar with friends on Monday night while I took a muscle relaxer and Lortab left over from my broken back days, and got good sleep for the first time in a long while. Wednesday the husband went to trivia at a local bar, and then to make up for getting two nights in one week sans children, he took me on a date Thursday. We share a pound of aged steak and a slice of rum soaked coconut cake. Now it’s Friday, and Inglorious Basterds is on t.v. My neck still tweaks me, and I’m not interested in this movie, so I’ll probably take some pain reliever and go to bed. Tomorrow we rake leaves, hang blinds, purchase groceries, prepare to have friends over for dinner Sunday night. I am relay running a marathon on Sunday morning – 5 miles only, a short one.
2013 gets a thumbs up so far.
So glad 2013 is off to a great start!
It was great to see you! <3
