Proto Atty – I have a frilly little princess boy. No joke. we’re having “Princess Lunch” after school today. I have to wear the Rapunzel wig and tiara (made for a toddler sized head, might I add), and Jack wears the tutu and ballet slippers and white elbow gloves.

The song that always comes up in my mind when I run is by Green Day. “Do you have the time, to listen to me whine…” Rock music in general. Queen, Ozzie, AC/DC.

Shoobs has introduced me to (good) house music, very dancy stuff. Maybe more dancy than runny, but good for running in place I guess. Also, have you heard Duck Sauce? We-oooh we-ooh Barbara Streisand. The faster stuff by Katie Perry and Adele, but I’d say Gaga is better at providing a solid beat for your feet.

Hmmm, what else. May sound weird, but african tribal music can also get the juices flowing. No words to sing along to (which is how I make it through running), but hefty beats.

I wanted boys. I got girls. Frilly little squeaky princess girls. Sigh. Then again, if I’d had boys, I probably would’ve had frilly little squeaky princess boys, so it really doesn’t matter.

Pitbull! The kinks – Victoria; Kitty, Daisy, & Lewis (Brit rockabilly)… Personally I like Cake’s version of I Will Survive and the Gourds’ cover of Gin & Juice, but it’s not exactly club music.

Thanks all! C – I agree that women never give themselves enough credit. But this is more of a case of being delicate with all of the people out there who are truly in pain because of this bad job market, rather than “aw shucks” phony modesty. I’ve seen so many friends who worked so hard – in law school, in other fields – who have been rewarded only with a stack of rejection letters. It’s really disheartening, and although I want to crow about my husband’s and my new situation (two income earners! WOW!), I also know that we weren’t any less awesome or driven or qualified back in the days when we were both jobless. Anyway, I just wanted to be careful to acknowledge that!

I am a regular MILP reader but hadnt seen your blog before. congrats on the full ride that is awesome. one thing – do NOT say your hard work was luck, lady! this gets to the feminist in me. women cannot keep saying their success is luck. you worked hard, you are smart, you had a career before law school, you’re grounded, etc – all that is clear from your post. how many men do you see saying they are “lucky” when they get a job? not many i know!

Do you still have the gun? I’d like to shoot him again on your behalf. My husband does the same damn thing. He can eat a salad and go to the gym twice and lose 20 pounds. I starved myself for 6 months to lose 20 pounds, and I’ve since gained 10 of it back. Asshole. Aargh!!!
